Portable surface roughness tester
Surftest SJ-210
Mitutoyo Corporation has developed and is just launching on the market the Surftest SJ-210 series that achieves improvement in operability, high function, high performance, and intensive analysis and display functions over the conventional portable surface roughness tester Surfest SJ series capable of surface roughness management at every worksite Since the current model SJ-201 series' release in January, 1998, the series has been well received in the market.
In the compact surface roughness tester market, however, the users are extending the scope of its application, thus requiring a further improvement in function. For example, a compact surface roughness tester is used for management of machine tools such as checking cutting edges for abrasion and determining the time to replace a cutting tool in addition to the quality control of workpieces. On the other hand, the market needs for improvement in ease of operation and further price-reduction are still increased.

Vision measuring system
Quick Vision Elf 202 PRO
Mitutoyo have redesigned their Vision Measuring System Quick Vision Elf and will now present a consistently and comprehensively improved model generation.
Starting with the measuring range there is now 200 millimeters on the Z-axis compared to the hitherto types with just 100 millimeters. Likewise the measur-ing speed spruced up to 200 millimeters per second featuring almost twice the speed.
Quick Vision Elf 202 PRO also provides improved accuracy for the Z-axis – the new values to be noted are stated with (3,0 + 0,5 L/100) µm. Further improved auto focus measurements are being supported by the new LED lighting installed with each illumination source. This highly advantageous lighting technology now replaces the hitherto halogen lighting of all QV ELF systems.

UMAP-CMM:
Micro probe for high accuracy 3-D coordinate measurement
This flexible swivel-joint micro probe enables tactile measurement for an almost microscopic range on standard CNC coordinate measuring machines.
UMAP is short for Ultrasonic Micro and Accurate Probe. A stylus equipped with a stylus tip of no more than 100 µm in diameter is actuated to oscillate in ultrasonic resonant frequency. On contact with the workpiece the stylus vibration is dampened immediately, thus effecting a change in displacement and vibration amplitude. The detection of this change triggers capturing current position coordinates as measuring points.
The finely tuned “Touch-Trigger” operation allows for measuring even superfine details with heigthened sensitivity. Compared to customary probe systems with measuring forces of several grams UMAP-CMM approaches the workpiece with contact forces as low as an incredible 1µN.

USB Input Tool Direct:
Simplified Transfer of Measurement Data via Direct Connection
Mitutoyo’s new “USB Input Tool Direct” provides uncomplicated and convenient “plug and play” transfer of measurement data via direct USB connection. The USB cable connection enables operation without additional interface box between measuring instrument and PC.
Mitutoyo’s innovative connector system allows direct connection of a digital measuring instrument as a so-called Human Interface Device (HID) to the PC - no need to install a software application or driver beforehand.
In addition you may also connect the USB Input Tool Direct as a virtual COM port (VCP) with fixed COM port assignment in Windows. This may be advantegeous, for example, when several measuring devices are connected to the PC via hub.
