Assuming responsibility

Mitutoyo measuring instruments show measurable more responsibility for the environment over the complete product life cycle. Quite a few of our small tool instruments, for example, are labeled with the sign “Blauer Engel”, for their particular environment-friendliness.

The „ABSOLUTE SUPER Caliper IP67“ e. g., which is solar-powered and equipped with a capacitor for energy storage. A minimum illumination of 60 lux is already sufficient for battery-free and eco-friendly operation. Even with the light intensity falling under 60 lux, the caliper will be operable for up to 80 more minutes.

Or, for example, the newly issued Elektro- und Elektronikgesetz (ElektroG) in connection with the Waste Electrical and Electronical Equipment Directive, WEEE: According to this directive, any electrical instrument bought in Germany since March 2006 must be taken back free of charge and disposed environment-friendly by the manufacturer or the distributor after usage. This directive also applies for line- or battery-powered measuring instruments.

As the first supplier of length measuring technique in Germany, Mitutoyo Europe GmbH has been registered and received the corresponding approval for the business-to-business sector by the appropriate “Elektro-Altgeräte-Register” (ear) (register for waste electrical devices).

Any electric operated Mitutoyo measuring instrument purchased in Europe since the 24 March 2006 bears the corresponding label and may be disposed free of charge within the individual take-back system.  The WEEE registration number DE 50879970 can also be found on the Mitutoyo business papers.
